I’ve been focusing more on the basics this year, trying to stay consistent with the things that keep me grounded. This week, food stood out but in a different way than you might think.
I’ve been experimenting with 72-hour fasts, four so far this year. It’s been an interesting journey. Not just from a physical standpoint, but in how it also shifts your mental awareness at all levels.
You start to realize pretty quickly that eating isn’t always about hunger. A lot of the time it’s routine, convenience, or just filling space during a busy day. At the same time, it’s made me more aware (aka mindful) of everything else: how I’m thinking, how I’m managing my energy, how I’m showing up across the board.
There’s a mental shift that comes with it too, like if you can stay disciplined through something like this, it reinforces that you can set your mind to just about anything. I have watched and felt my energy shift to focusing on sense of accomplishment, sense of confidence, and a better state of mental well-being when the fasts are completed.
I’ve noticed that when you eat with more intention, you feel the difference – more steady, more clear, and more confident. It’s been a good reminder that how you fuel yourself connects to a lot more than just energy, It shows up in how you think, how you respond, and how you lead.
Consistency isn’t just about effort. It’s about how well you’re taking care of what’s behind it. Fueling yourself well on all levels (aka the Big 5) isn’t extra, it’s part of keeping yourself ready for whatever the week throws at you. #nutrition #mentalclarity #confidence #mindful #Big5
