What was on my mind this week? Pressure.
The pace. The expectations. The demands and decisions that seem to stack up over time. Pressure has a way of exposing both our strengths and the areas where we’ve drifted from our core.
It’s the moment when you should stop and force yourself to ask: Am I being mindful or just reacting? Am I making time to move, or convincing myself I’m too busy? Am I staying connected to the people who give me energy? How am I fueling myself? Am I getting the rest I need?
The interesting thing about pressure is that it doesn’t create these habits. It reveals them. It’s a telling story to watch, not only in ourselves but in those around us. When the pressure is on, we tend to fall back on our defaults. Reacting instead of responding. Telling ourselves we’re too busy. Skipping the coffee with a friend, the workout, or the extra hour of sleep.
Leadership isn’t just about how we show up when things are easy. It’s about how we show up when the pace picks up and the pressure is real. The lesson here is to remember that’s usually when the big 5 basics matter most.
